Genesee & Wyoming save time and resources with Investor Hotline

The Client: Genesee & Wyoming, Inc. engages in the ownership and operation of short line and regional freight railroads in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and Bolivia. As of December 31, 2005, the company owned, leased, or operated 49 short line and regional freight railroads with approximately 9,300 miles of track and had access to 3,000 additional miles under track access arrangements. The Challenge: Genesee & Wyoming wanted to save time and resources related to handling investor requests for information. They sought to become more organized and effective with fulfillment so they could focus their resources on other IR initiatives. They wanted to stop spending time stuffing envelopes and entering contact data and devote more time to effective investor relations.


The Solution: Working with PrecisionIR, Genesee & Wyoming implemented an outsourced Investor Hotline for investor requests. All investor requests that come through their corporate website are now handled by PrecisionIR’s Investor Hotline service. A "Request for Information" link and a toll free number were placed on the Genesee & Wyoming website. The link goes to a page hosted by PrecisionIR where investors order from the documents that Genesee & Wyoming wants to make available. These orders and any phone calls go directly to PrecisionIR’s customer service team for same day processing and next business day dispatch.

The PrecisionIR Investor Hotline service tracks all of the requests that come in and provides daily, online reports for Genesee & Wyoming of how many orders were placed, detailed information on the requestors, and which documents were ordered. Investors can also submit questions or comments via the web order page, and these comments are directed to the Genesee & Wyoming IR team in real-time, for review and response. All investor comments are included in the online reports and databased for future reference. As part of Genesee & Wyoming’s PrecisionIR package subscription, the Investor Hotline service charge is only postage for packages mailed.
