RICHMOND, VA – August 16, 2007 – PrecisionIR Group, a worldwide provider of web-based communication solutions and online investor relations services, today announced the purchase of Vodium, a streaming media communications company based in Washington D.C. which specializes in rich media, full-service online events.
PrecisionIR currently offers the Vcall brand of webcasting and web event services globally, executing thousands of live web events each quarter. The purchase of Vodium presents opportunities for Vcall to expand their feature range and markets served.
“The ability to provide new and complimentary services across our combined client base is one of the highlights of this acquisition,” said Steve Schneider, chief executive officer of PrecisionIR Group. “Adding Vodium enhances the range of rich media and services currently available to Vcall clients, while Vodium clients will benefit from access to Vcall’s live web conferencing and webcasting services to augment their on-demand events. In addition, the acquisition enables us to bring to market new and innovative solutions quicker and more frequently.”
Vcall specializes in producing live corporate web events that include audio, video, and slide presentations for global audiences. The Vcall platform, which offers interactivity and wide live-audience reach, is designed for use in investor relations, marketing and sales, training, human resources, and member communications. It is used by hundreds of companies, associations, and non-profits for engaging online communication.
Vodium is a full-service provider of Flash-based webcasting and streaming media solutions, including on-line training, knowledge management, virtual conferences, and corporate communications. Vodium serves audiences from 10 - 10,000 with synchronized searchable rich media presentations that include audio, video, transcripts, graphics, reports, and web content. Vodium's customers include Fortune 100 companies, federal agencies and the educational sector.
“Vodium’s current client base of government, associations and corporate clients compliment the vertical markets Vcall supports,” said Ken Balog, vice president of Vcall sales for PrecisionIR Group, “and Vodium’s various GSA contracts provide Vcall with a vehicle for offering services to the federal government sector.“
The worldwide market for web events is expected to grow to $700 million this year from $480 million a year ago, according to estimates by researcher The Yankee Group. This growth is driven by companies’ needs to reduce costs while improving communications effectiveness and reach. Most recently, web events have been recognized as a ‘green’ tool for helping companies become more environment-friendly and reduce their carbon footprint.
PrecisionIR Group will retain Vodium’s Washington D.C. operations as well as the sales and production staff. Platform integration will begin immediately to enable clients to leverage the combined services.
